Women’s College All-Star Game to be Televised by ESPN2, Player Watch List Revealed
Intersport today announced significant updates as part of its ongoing planning for the 2024 Women’s College All-Star Game. ESPN2 will televise the game, which is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on April 6 at the Wolstein Center in downtown Cleveland and will feature many of the top senior standouts from across the country. More than 50 of those players are prominently highlighted on a late season watch list also released today, as voted on by a panel of national media members and former coaches.
These standouts, who will be exhausting or foregoing their remaining eligibility and are on the precipice of hearing their names called in the WNBA Draft, will have one final opportunity to represent their programs and be recognized against the backdrop of the sport’s championship weekend. While the watch list is inexhaustive of eligible players as stars emerge during the season’s final month, notable prospects with potential to compete in the showcase include:
- Iowa’s Caitlin Clark
- LSU’s Angel Reese
- Ohio State’s Jacy Sheldon
- Stanford’s Cameron Brink
- South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso
- UConn’s Aaliyah Edwards
The complete watch list can be found HERE.
A distinguished panel of national media members and former coaches provided their expert feedback in helping compile the star-studded list of players making up a midseason watch list. Projected top picks in the WNBA Draft, All-Americans and Player of the Year candidates pepper the game’s watch list.
One of the leading voices of the panel is longtime college coach Terri Mitchell, who will serve as Game Ambassador. In her role, Mitchell will help finalize player and team rosters and oversee the player experience both on and off the court. She has spent nearly 30 years as a coach, including 18 as the head coach at Marquette where she finished as the program’s all-time leader in wins.
“Having spent my entire career so closely connected to the game of basketball, I’m very excited to join the team at Intersport in bringing the Women’s College All-Star Game back to championship weekend,” said Mitchell. “This sport continues to grow in popularity, as evidenced by rising fan attendance and increasing television viewership, so to once again have this platform for the best seniors in the game is an important reflection of women’s basketball and its upward trajectory.”
Tickets for the Women’s College All-Star Game, which start at just $15, are on sale now and can be purchased HERE.
“With a national television partnership, a knowledgeable roster of national media and former coaches helping identify top talent and a highly respected leader in the game like Terri Mitchell serving as the Game Ambassador, we have re-established the Women’s College All-Star Game as a significant event as part of the most exciting weekend in college basketball, “said Mark Starsiak, vice president of basketball at Intersport, the Chicago-based that created and manages the event. “The opportunity to showcase these athletes on the college court one more time will be impactful for the future of the sport, and we encourage the game’s players, fans and partners to join us in uplifting this star-studded roster on championship weekend.”
National brands have committed to the event and will activate through the experience through product distribution and other engagement opportunities, including State Farm, Zappos, Skechers and Under Armour.
